According to Portsmouth School Committee chair Richard Carpender, committee member Jamie Heaney has requested an item on next week's meeting agenda to announce his resignation.

"I can confirm that there is an agenda item request from Mr. Heany titled Resignation," Carpender said in response to an e-mail requesting comment. "I have confirmed with Jamie this morning that he is resigning."

Speculation about a resignation began in the last day as information about the preliminary agenda began circulating.

No official copy of the agenda is yet available online, either at the Portsmouth School Department or Secretary of State web site.
