Snow Day for Portsmouth tomorrow

From Superintendent Susan Lusi's listserv e-mail:

Dear Members of the Portsmouth School Community,

I am closing all schools and cancelling all activities for tomorrow, Friday, December 19, 2008, rather than doing an early dismissal as I had originally planned.

I have made this decision because Rhode Island Emergency Management (RIEMA) recommended that all schools close, and further recommended that the decision be made as soon as possible and preferably in time for the evening news. I do not support closing school until there is a closer read on the weather, particularly when the current report looks as though it is not going to snow hard until 2 PM. However, when RIEMA makes such a recommendation for all schools, it is difficult to do otherwise.

I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season.

Regards,
Sue Lusi

Stay safe out there everybody, and keep an eye on TurnTo10.com for any other closings.
