Gov announces reference and homework help site

Governor Carcieri announced a new Web site for RI students and families yesterday which brings together a set of online search offerings with resources from Rhode Island's libraries and a homework tutoring service.

Governor Donald L. Carcieri today joined Rhode Island leaders of the Office of Library and Information Services and the Statewide Reference Resource Center at Providence Public Library to announce the launch of a new and improved on-line resource for all Rhode Islanders, www.AskRI.org.

“The enhanced www.AskRI.org web site is the latest advance in our ongoing effort to improve the education and enrich the lives of every Rhode Islander,” Governor Carcieri said. “This enables everyone from elementary school students to adults to find authoritative information they need, for free, when they need it. The resource for individual homework help is especially significant because students can work with established tutors in the afternoon or evening simply by going to www.AskRI.org, and accessing Homework Help RI.”

Tried a couple of searches and it works as advertised. Nothing revolutionary here; it seems to be just a repackaging of existing resources, but it's nice to have everything pulled together with a bow on it.
