Official Dem slate scores primary victory [update]
Democratic Primary candidates Mark Katzman, Al Honnen, Dennis Canario, and Len Katzman watch as Jim Seveney tallies precinct numbers. |
In a vote that demonstrated the power of endorsements, all the candidates supported by the Portsmouth Town Democratic committee survived their primary contests today for the Town Council and School Committee.
With only 76 absentee ballots outstanding, the Council lineup for the general election appears set, as unendorsed candidate Mary Correia trailed second-lowest finisher Mark Katzman by 108 votes.
On the School Committee side, relative positions might change, and things appear difficult for incumbent Terri Cortvriend unless there is overwhelming support among the absentees. Former PCC member Tom Vadney was decisively eliminated, trailing by 106 votes.
Final results from Portsmouth Canvasser as of 10:11pm, not including 46 absentee and 30 emergency ballots being counted in Providence which will be available late tomorrow morning.
