Over at Emptywheel, there's a long Sunday-reading kind of post about the Fed's anthrax investigation (which references and goes well beyond today's New York Times story). The bottom line is that whether Bruce Ivins was the sole conspirator or not, the collateral damage to those under suspicion was horrible. Indeed, Emptywheel begins with a shout out to that distant mirror of our current political environment, the McCarthy hearings.

Elie Weisel once said, comparing the film The Day After to the Holocaust, "Today, we are all Jewish." In Bush's America, it seems, we are all guilty.
