Register to vote TODAY [Update: mail ballot by 8/19]

If you are not registered to vote in the Sept 9th Primary in Portsmouth, please, please PLEASE go register today. Here's why: There are primary contests for both the Town Council and the School Committee, and on the School Committee side, there are no Republican opponents in November, so the Primary is the General Election.

You read that right: No Republicans for School Committee means the primary is the general.

There will be much more substantive coverage of the candidates on this site in the coming weeks, but it's all moot if you don't get yourself registered. Please. Go. Do.

You can contact the Canvassing Authority for more info, or just stop by Town Hall.

Minor correction: According to the Secretary of State's Web site, the Portsmouth Town Hall will also be open tomorrow (Saturday, August 9) for registration.

Update: Hat tip to Portsmouth Citizen who points out in a comment that you can pick up a mail ballot application if you'll be out of town on Primary Day, and the deadline for returning those to the canvasser's office is August 19.

Comments

Although the deadline to register in time for the September 9 primary has come and gone, you can still apply for a mail ballot if you'll be out of town on primary day. You can pick up a mail ballot application from the canvasser's office at town hall. The deadline to get the mail ballot application back to the canvasser's office is 4:00 p.m. August 19.

I love voting. See you at the polls!
