This weekend, Portsmouth will be hosting the state tournament for Little League ten-year-olds, so show up to cheer on the kids! From a PLL e-mail:

"COME SEE THE BEST 10 YEAR OLDS in the State. The Opening Ceremony starts at 11:00am on Saturday, July 26th at the Sherman field behind the Aquidneck Island Christian Academy. The first game starts at Noon and the second game begins at 3pm. On Sunday, the first game is at 2pm and the second at 5pm.

During the Opening Ceremony, we will have over 60 families from the 4 towns plus friends. Congressman Patrick Kennedy as well as a representative from Portsmouth will be there to greet the teams.

Sunday was rained out; there will be games tonight (Monday, 7/28) according to a PLL e-mail.

Come watch these amazing young athletes tonight playing at 5:30pm at both the Sherman and Rooney fields. All four teams will be represented tonight at the same time. Please park behind the school so our visitors will have the main lot. We still need support for lining the fields, pitch counters and official scorers and announcers for both games, if interested. Please show within 30 minutes or more of the game if you can support us.
