Flo's is open! The first real sign of spring...

Flo's clam shack, an Island Park tradition, is now open Fridays through Sundays. If you're jonesing for that authentic quahog chowda, or their awesome stuffies, or you want a bag of clam cakes to munch while you sit on the sea wall, come on down.

And while you're here, take in Park Avenue's beautiful new sidewalks and charming antique street lamps. Perfect for a sunset stroll along the picturesque waterfront; on a clear day, you can see all the way down to where the Fo'c'sle used to be. Plenty of free parking.

This message brought to you by the Island Park Tourist Board. :)

John I didn't know that the Town Council provided money in the budget for that.

Hi, Rich...
The Island Park Tourist Board (IPTB) is a public-private partnership, leveraging best-of-breed technologies to incent target demographics to engage with our superior facilities. By optimizing ROI and ROCE and employing out-of-box thinking, we facilitate emergent synergies and achieve economies of scale. (Especially at our fine seafood establishments.)

Cheers.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll be down at Flo's this weekend to ring in spring. The opening of Flo's is right up on par with the opening of Frosty Freeze and the blooming of crocuses.

It always feels good when I eat a bag of clam cakes sitting on the sea wall, tossing a few pieces to the gathering seagulls. I often don't feel so good after eating the bag of clamcakes, but that's another story.

And people say the media doesn't report good news!

...could afford to toss them to the seagulls!
Worth every penny tho'! :)~

You forgot to mention the FRIED CLAMS! Which they are MOST famous for...YUM!!!

Hi, Stormie...
Agree completely -- I just sort of took that as a given, but it deserves mention. There is nothing like a Flo's clam roll. And hey, they're open tomorrow!

Flo's, and Hartley's pork pies, are my favorite RI food memories from childhood, followed closely by Frozen Pudding from the Newport Creamery.

Cheers.

p.s. Yeah, I guess Hartley's is technically in Fall River, but we used to eat them in RI.

AAH Frosty Freeze...I often wonder why they never branched out to Portsmouth. The old Jo's Lounge would have been ideal, instead of what did move in there. Ick.
Frosty freeze!Frosty freeze!Frosty freeze!...I cheer but nobody listens! LOL
I suppose they have done so well in middletown, a little gold mine there for sure, they don't need to expand!
And lets hear it for Gray's Ice cream in tiverton!
Ok, Enough talk about the food...I have to keep my, sexy, girlish, figure, ya know?
