On Friday, May 7, you'll have the chance to see some of Portsmouth's most amazing kitchens — and support our schools at the same time — at the fourth annual Hidden Kitchens of Portsmouth Tour sponsored by the Portsmouth Public Education Foundation.

For just $25, you'll be able to visit seven of our town's most beautiful and well-designed kitchens, while enjoying snacks and beverages from more than a dozen local restaurants and shops.

The do-it-yourself tour runs from all day — from 11am to 7pm — so once you pick up your map, there's plenty of time to hop around town to see all the amazing locations. The kitchens were selected for their unique features and varied locations throughout Portsmouth, and range from do-it-yourself to professionally designed and appointed.

While some tickets will be on sale May 7 at Clements Market, availability is limited, so please order early. You can call 800-929-1738, or visit the Kitchen Tour web site to purchase tickets. New this year is a combo pack of two tickets and the official Kitchen Tour apron for just $65.

The Hidden Kitchen tour is the major fundraiser for the Portsmouth Public Education Foundation (PPEF), which each year gives out over $10,000 in competitive grants to teachers in our public schools for innovative classroom projects. If you can't make the Kitchen Tour, please consider a donation. You can find out more about the PPEF at the web site or Facebook page.

Full disclosure: I serve on the PPEF board.

Update: Forced to the top of the page. Hope you'll support PPEF.
