ProJo weighs in on funding formula

The state's newspaper of record (which stopped covering our community back in 2008) opines in an editorial today that RIDE's funding formula is good because it is "revenue neutral" and money would "follow the students."

Maybe it's their lack of any reporters on the ground in communities like Portsmouth that make them able to ignore the impact this formula would have. You can see them trying to set up the framing for the debate: anyone who complains is engaging in a "parochial battle for a bigger piece of the pie." Ooh. That should settle the question.

Bottom line: Forcing Portsmouth taxpayers to shoulder 91% of the cost of education is okay with the Providence Journal.
