RIDE posts school absentee figures [updated]

The RI Department of Education (RIDE) has begun posting daily attendance reports from all schools in the state, Commissioner Deborah Gist's office announced today. The reports, which have been provided to the Dept. of Health for two years to assist in tracking diseases like H1N1, are available on the RIDE web site.

“We have been glad to provide this valuable information to aid the Health Department as it works to protect the health and well-being of schoolchildren and others in the state,” said Gist in a statement. “We have decided to develop and publish daily attendance reports so that all Rhode Islanders can have access to this information. Both the Governor’s Office and the Health Department support our decision to publish this information daily.”

According to RIDE, site will be updated at midnight with attendance information for the preceding school day, as well as archival information.
