Yard sale to benefit Garden Club tomorrow

The Portsmouth Garden Club is hosting a yard sale at the Aquidneck Island Christian Academy (the old Pennfield School) on Saturday from 9am to 1pm, with the proceeds to benefit the group's work in town. There will be great bargains available on all sorts of cool yard-saley stuff, and it's for a good cause.

If you're not familiar with what the Garden Club does here in town, here's a taste from a statement to local media:

We do planting and care of flowers at the Town Hall and library. At holiday time, we decorate the library, Town Hall and the Fire Dept. Donation of our flower arrangements go for the auction at Portsmouth library fund raiser. We contibute holiday arrangements for the senior center and have a plant show at the Atria [Aquidneck Place] annually. We also plant trees and bushes when appropriate on town land.

Hey, you never know what you'll find. Or who you'll meet (one of my favorite Cory Doctorow stories, Craphound, is about an alien who scours yard sales...)
