RITaxpayers deny War on Christmas

From November 22, 2013 RI Taxpayers email.

Last Friday, the RI Taxpayers sent an email to subscribers in which they wished everyone a "happy, healthy holiday season." In case you're wondering, the RI Taxpayers is the rebranded "RI Shoreline Coalition," a right-wing group that fights for "taxpayers," and the "Taxpayer Times" is their daily email blast of conservative media clippings.

Seeing the "happy holiday" language in their newsletter seemed pretty strange to me — especially since they featured a ProJo story on Gov. Chafee and the "holiday" tree in their Nov 27, 2012 issue.

So I poked them on Twitter, reposting the graphic and asking if they'd declared War on Christmas. Guess how they responded?

So, when progressives or atheists say "happy holidays," it's a slap in the face to the faith tradition on which this country was founded. When right-wingers say "happy holidays," it means the exact opposite.

Okay, then. From now on, if you want to be sure you're inclusive when you say "Happy Holidays," just add, "And I mean that like a RI Taxpayer®!"
