after all she grabbed what she could carry, as she made off without a doubt. she slipped into a taxi, as the rain came tumbling down. and she drove into the night, just as her tears began to fall, but i think she just might make it after all. he pulled into the driveway, feeling beaten by the day. the house was dark and silent, as he blindly cried her name. and he fell back in the shadows, and read the writing on the wall, but i think he just might make it after all. nothing sets you up like when you’re driven to your knees. all your friends assured you things aren’t hopeless as they seem. but still you beg for lullabies, when all you really need is time. the rain and storm had passed, as he stood silent on the beach. he knew he’d seen the last, as she went sailing off to sea. but she’ll think about him often, and he’ll forget his broken heart, and i think they just might make it after all. © 1990 Bill Rosen/Banditunes Music
