Portsmouth karate school wins tree decoration prize at Newport Festival of Lights

Portsmouth's East Bay Martial Arts with winners' check at Newport Festival of Lights
East Bay's Mr. Eaton, Master Amaral, Mr. Oliver hold winners' check

The team from East Bay Martial Arts in Portsmouth won the "Most Imaginative Tree" at today's Newport Festival of Lights, bringing home a $250 prize for the karate studio on East Main Road. The tree featured origami and other decorations made by students and staff at the school, and was selected from dozens on display throughout the day at Fort Adams State Park.

Congratulations to everyone who pitched in — well deserved!

Editorial note: By the time of the award, teams had already taken all the decorations off the trees, if you're wondering why the one in the picture looks a little sparse.

Full disclosure: Our son is a student there (and we think it is a totally awesome school, and not just for their tree decorating.)
