Portsmouth's past comes to life this Sunday at the Historical Society

This Sunday, Oct. 16, the Portsmouth Historical Society and Portsmouth Community Theater team up to take you "A Step Back in Time." From 2-4pm at the Historical Society at East Main Rd. and Union St., you can meet Col. William Barton, Julia Ward Howe, Unitarian minister William Ellery Channing, John Brown (first caretaker of the horse-drawn hearse), and the school mistress of Portsmouth's one-room schoolhouse — all brought to life by members of the Community Theater.

Following the tour, enjoy free refreshments in Mrs. Durfee’s tearoom, set up in the center of the Historical Society museum. Baked goods will also be available to purchase.

Tickets are $5 per person. For more info or to RSVP (appreciated but not required to attend): portsmouthhistorical@yahoo.com
