Portsmouth's brief blackout due to tripped breaker

The short power outage experienced in the northern end of Portsmouth last night was due to a tripped breaker at the Dexter substation, according to National Grid spokesperson David Graves.

"While our employees were investigating a report of an unusual noise coming from our Dexter Substation off W. Main Rd in Portsmouth last night, a circuit breaker opened causing an outage that ran for 7 minutes, from 7:26 pm to 7:33 pm," said Graves. "The breaker was closed and power was restored to the approximately 3,800 Portsmouth customers who had lost service. There were no problems found at the substation."
