The Rhode Island Center for Freedom and Prosperity has brought out the big guns in their fight to eliminate Rhode Island's sales tax, according to a press release from the group this morning announcing support from the one-and-only Grover Norquist.

The release links to a posting on the Americans for Tax Reform web site where The Norquist weighed in on the state sales tax elimination legislation being considered by the Senate Finance Committee this afternoon.

The Norquist letter to the General Assembly argues that zeroing out sales tax would "create 20,000 new jobs while letting taxpayers keep and spend an additional $1 billion of their own hard-earned income."

The "non-partisan" Center for Freedom and Prosperity CEO Mike Stenhouse and "research director" Justin Katz will be testifying on the bill this afternoon, according to their e-mail.
